To restore the thread about user pictures. Please no more customer references. We stopped at the point where we were we were wondering how to update the link from a user profile to the newly created user pictures in colab.
Are there any other ways besides restarting the server to get that updated?

To my knowledge, user profile pictures are linked to document IDs, and that ID is cached in the application server relative to the username. If you delete a user profile picture from the Documents interface (which is not recommended) and the user uploads a new photo, the doc ID will subsequently change. Due to the fact that the old doc ID is cached in the app server, you'll see the "broken" image you're referencing. A quick restart of the app server will refresh that cache. ...

    sorry about before. but the one insight I had regarding this question specifically, is that instead of restarting the app server, the "delete picture" button can be clicked from the user profile editor, which seems to clear the old doc ids and allows the new image to appear. so in effect, in this specific scenario, "delete picture" actually does the opposite.
