Question

I am using Appian 7.4. We already have a smart service to send meeting requests from a process model. The requirement is:

1. First check whether or not a person's calendar is free for the meeting and then send the invite

OR

2. Check for a person's calendar for availability and decide the meeting time at runtime.

Can we achieve this in Appian via any smart service, logic..etc?...

To add to what Stefan Helzle has said, you should take a look at your calendar's API. In my experience with integrations, the trick isn't with interacting with a well-built API (Appian provides OOTB methods), but how you authenticate. Sometimes you need to write a custom plugin/servlet to handle more complex authentication handshakes.
