I am using Appian 7.4. We already have a smart service to send meeting requests

I am using Appian 7.4. We already have a smart service to send meeting requests from a process model. The requirement is:
1. First check whether or not a person's calendar is free for the meeting and then send the invite
OR
2. Check for a person's calendar for availability and decide the meeting time at runtime.
Can we achieve this in Appian via any smart service, logic..etc?...

I think you need to access your calendar server to get this information. There is no OOTB function for that. MS Exchange and Lotus Notes both provide some webservices. Have you checked that?
