Did you enable chaining from the first interface or start node to the second interface?

Can you show us the whole process model? Is there any other node between the start node and the second interface?
Your are aware that there are limits in the number of nodes in a chain? There is also a timeout.
Yes It might be the reason for this issue, No. of chained nodes exceeding the threshold limit.
Yes, count the number of nodes between the two attended tasks and try to reduce them if they exceeds 50 or whatever limit has been set in properties file.
