I have a csv file encoded in ANSI and a header file encoded in whatever I want.

I have a csv file encoded in ANSI and a header file encoded in whatever I want. I want to add the header file on top of the csv file using the text doc from template smart service and the textfromtemplate() expression. Unfortunately my German characters are always corrupted. I tried encoding the the header in UTF-8, but this didn't work either. Any suggestions on how to get this working? TIA!...

I think you should ensure that all documents have the same encoding and charset. I also had troubles when a document has a UTF Byte-Order-Mark.
BTW, are you from Germany?

Yes, I am.
I have the problem that I cannot control the encoding of the csv file I get. It's in ANSI.

Maybe you could parse (Plugin) the CSV file and rebuild a new one including the headers. Only feasable if the CSV is not too long.
How long do you already work with Appian? I am from Ulm.

I guess the file is too large for that (~6MB).
We're working with Appian since the beginning of this year. I am from Munich.

If your Server has enough RAM and execution time is no problem, give it a try. Are the corrupted chars in the header or in the CSV file?
I do process architecture, development and implementation in Appian since 2,5 years in fulltime as a freelancer for a bigger Stuttgart based automotive company.

for anyone interested. We ended up writing a smart service that changes the encoding of the file.
