What is the recommended way of updating an "in-flight" process to have the latest version of a CDT?

Model updates are supported by API from 7.0 (maybe 6.7) on. I solved that by building my model the way so that it can restart itself as sub process and have the CDT as parameter. The process terminates itself as soon as the new process is started.
