Task preview is enabled or disabled under what conditions when doing group assig

Task preview is enabled or disabled under what conditions when doing group assignment ?

As per documentation at forum.appian.com/.../Tasks.html

" Depending on the design, some tasks do not open in preview mode and when you click on the task, you are prompted to accept it before being able to view the task form. Click Yes to accept it and view the task form. "

What is that design & some tasks which does not open in preview mode.
Few findings :
Task form designed using Form designer does not have a preview mode enabled while sail form opens with preview mode enabled when doing group assignment

Appreciate your help !

  • @abhinavg To the best of my knowledge, 'Depending on the design' in the sense, Appian's documentation is indirectly speaking about the design considerations that were present before introduction of SAIL (in Process tasks) in Tempo.

So, before 7.4, the documentation is pretty straight forward as follows:

Please refer 'Accepting' section under 'Working with Tasks in Tempo' at https://forum.appian.com/suite/wiki/73/Tasks#Working_with_Tasks_in_Tempo

But from 7.4, Appian's documentation is explaining the 'Acceptance' section assuming that SAIL interface is used for the process tasks in Tempo. So that's the reason why 'Depending on the design' has been added in order to tell Appian practitioners indirectly that Tempo forms (forms designed with 'Forms Designer' and 'Save as Tempo Form' enabled) behave slightly different from the SAIL Forms.

Please refer 'Accepting' section under 'Working with Tasks in Tempo' at https://forum.appian.com/suite/wiki/74/Tasks#Working_with_Tasks_in_Tempo

A difference which I could remember (infact stated in the documentation as well) and could add to your findings is, I remember, we used to accept a task before opening itself when we were on 7.3 and versions prior to it in case of Tempo Forms. (And this behaviour still continues in latest versions in case of Tempo forms) But from 7.4 and higher versions, the introduction of SAIL interfaces has provided an ability to preview the task with 'Accept' button.
