Hi, we are running IE11 and recently ( last 2 -3 weeks) seem to be having severe memory leaks, when using the process modeller, which are ultimately causing the browser to crash. We install Microsoft patches frequently and we've backed out recent patches on a couple of machines. This seems to have helped in that the memory leaks have slowed down but still occur.
Is anyone else experiencing a similar issue?
Thanks
Mike

This could be due to IE11 update 11.0.9600.18059, released 10/13/2015 via KB3093983. This is caused by a memory leak in the spelling correction add-on. As a workaround, you can disable spelling correction as follows:
- Click the gear icon in the top right of the IE browser
- Click "Manage add-ons"
- Click "Spelling Correction" on the bottom of the left-hand list
- Uncheck the box next to "Enable Spelling Correction"
- Close and re-open IE11

We have a very recent reproduction of something very similar to what you report and there is a Tech Note in the process of being written. Microsoft and/or Appian will be addressing this. In mean time, here is some background and guidance:
Memory leak in Windows 7/Internet Explorer due to IE11 update 11.0.9600.18059, released 10/13/2015 via KB3093983. This is caused by a memory leak in the spelling correction add-on. As a temporary work-around, those experiencing this issue can disable spelling correction as follows:
o Click the gear icon in the top right of the IE browser
o Click "Manage add-ons"
o Click "Spelling Correction" on the bottom of the left-hand list
o Uncheck the box next to "Enable Spelling Correction"
o Close and re-open IE11

@Mike - Yes. Btw, the work-around doesn't completely solve it, but it gives you a lot more time (depends on usage).

It looks like Microsoft will be patching this memory leak issue w/ IE11:

Appian released a hotfix to address this issue because haven't seen a fix from Microsoft yet.
For Appian 7.11,
forum.appian.com/.../Hotfixes.html
Issue: AN-64310
For prior Appian releases, please see the applicable hotfix page.
