I am using an HTML template in Send Email activity.The HTML document contains images enclosed in <img src> tag but when I am sending the mail the images are not displayed.Although I have kept the images within the same folder where the html document is kept.

How are you specifying the source of those images in html document?

As the people suggested in the feed forum.appian.com/.../b-31750 , documents from Appian repository cannot be accessed externally.
However we can make use of base64 conversion functions and convert the document to base64 and use this string in img tag as below

<img alt="Embedded Image" src="data:image/png;base64,###base64String###"/>
