I have a process model and i am using one rule in the process model,i have run few instances on this Process model and stopped at some point, later i have added one process variable in the model and that process variable used in the rule.when i run the existing instances i am getting the error in the task saying variable not exists(newly added one).
So how could i solve this.

How did you add the process variable? Did you do it through opening the process model and saving and publishing it? If that is the case remember that changes to the process model are not propagated to running instances, only new instances will be based in the most recent published version of the model.
If you need to update running instances and port them to the most recent version of the process model you have to build a custom smart service that uses the process upgrade API
