There appears to be an issue related to Task Display Names under Tasks in Tempo.

There appears to be an issue related to Task Display Names under Tasks in Tempo. The ampersand (&), double-quote ("), less than (<), and greater than (>) characters are replaced with "&", """, "<", and ">", respectively. This issue does not seem to happen under the Tasks tab in designer. Is there a workaround for this, or a permanent fix on the way in an upcoming release of Appian? We are currently using 7.0....

Actually there is more than that. When task names contain unicode (in our case greek) characters we will also see the unicode representation instead of the actual characters. So we would see something like that in Tempo: Κατχ&omega... etc !!! This is not an actual issue to us yet because we don't use Tempo right now but it will be when we include Tempo in our workflows so you have to provide a patch for that (at least for Appian 7.1).
