Help Looping a Process Model

Thanks for all the help I received last time I posted here. I was able to complete an export to excel from CDT.

Now I would like to write a loop around the export process which will reference an array of unique ids to form the foundation for the data pull. The original model takes just on ID, hence the loop. I'm not sure if this is the best way of doing it. Any suggestions would be helpful. I've added the 'increment constant node' and the 'restart all nodes'. I think this method would work but that is also why I am posting. I have a sail form to accept the input for the array of unique ids but I'm not sure if that should be the process start form or a 'user input node'.

Hi Ben , you can try ExportToExcelFromSQL if you have all your data in the DB , so can pass the multiple IDs at the same time and populating the excel instead of looping all the nodes.

Thanks for the insight. I think I would like to stick with the CDT process because the excel template that I'm populating is complex and requires several aggregations. It's working well so I was hoping to reuse that work by looping through it. Right now the process model its taking a table id, populating a multi-sheet excel template, and then exporting the file via email. My plan, for now, would be to loop that process so that multiple emails would be sent by indexing an array of IDs.

Hi Ben,

Could you encapsulate the nodes from "Fetch data" to "Send E-Mail" in a sub-process that has a parameter for a single ID? That way your process could use MNI to call that same process, once for each ID in your list of IDs. Here's more on MNI: docs.appian.com/.../Multiple_Node_Instances.html

Thank you. I think this is exactly what I'm looking for.

I was using the rf!Variable from the record to pass in my table ID to the process model, and now I need to use a sail form to pass in a user selected array of IDs. Should this be done as a start form or as a user input task node? I'm trying to do this as the start form but I I'm not sure how to pass the ri!Array that im saving in the form to the pv!Array.

No problem! You can use either a start form, or chain to a user input task. From the documentation:

"Generally speaking, process models that require a user interaction first should be configured with a process start form. Activity-chained tasks are useful when something needs to happen between kicking off the process and the user seeing the form."

So in your case it really depends on if anything needs to happen before the user selects the array of IDs.

Thank for the help! It started working just a few minutes ago! The problem I encountered was using Synchronously vs ASynchronously in the sub-process node. Thanks again.
