93548 - no subject - I have a column on a Portal Report which

I have a column on a Portal Report which is displaying the start date of a process. I have it formatted as a Date, which is displayed in this format: Dec 20, 2013. We would prefer the dates to be shown in format MM/DD/YYYY. I am able to display the date in the format we want using text(pp!starttime,"mm/dd/yyyy"), however this causes the report to sort incorrectly when you sort by the date.
Any suggestion on how to display the date in MM/DD/YYYY or similar format, but still allow me to sort by the date properly?...

We are on 7.3, but this application was built in the Portal. I do realize that displaying the data using a logical expression is causing the sorting problem. I am just wondering if there is any other way to format the date MM/DD/YYYY and still have the sorting work properly. Here are examples of how the sorting is wrong when using the formatted date:
