Can anyone offer some advice?

Can anyone offer some advice? We have created a report which meets the requirements for a scoring mechanism where the values for duration ((starttime to now) and (now to process deadline)) are used to generate a score which acts as the sorting column. This in itself shouldn't be a problem but... the value for now to process deadline is a decreasing value which means items which should be considered high priority are falling down the ranking so we came up with the attached formula.
Is there a better way of calculating this value? The resulting integer seems to be a little insensitive and does not give us sufficient granularity. Ideally I would like to keep the decimal values from the initial calculation but I can't see how this could be achieved given the problem of a decreasing value for deadline - now.
