During our 20.1 Product Announcement Webinar, we received this question from a community member: Does Appian RPA work on-prem? Would it be possible to use a hybrid configuration (Appian on-prem and Appian RPA in the Cloud)?
Discussion posts and replies are publicly visible
Appian RPA is only available through the Appian Cloud. It is possible to use a hybrid configuration (Appian on-prem and Appian RPA in the Cloud). It will require the customer to have an Appian instance in the cloud that can be used for Appian RPA. The on-prem Appian instance can integrate with the Appian RPA in Cloud using HTTP connected system.
If Hybrid Configuration is made and the BOT needs to read a file and process it(pdf, document, excel) , will that data been processed on Appian cloud or on the Appian Agent running on-perm virtual machine?
most of the data processed for clients have sensitive data which cannot leave the network.
please clarify.
If the BOT needs to use an Appian Document then that document will need to first go from the on-prem site to the Appian Cloud site where it can then be passed to the robot. For handling files on the virtual machine, all of those are handled locally and are not sent to Appian Cloud unless you tell the bot to do so. Does that answer your question?
