I am trying to validate the form fields based on null entries. placed if(condition){return false;}return true; and have given a validation message. But i am surprised that the validation is not took into consideration at all. the same worked fine many times before but i am wondering why is this not working now ?...

Maybe you are performing the validation on empty strings, rather than null values. If you have the Common Objects application in your environment, can you try using rule!APN_isBlank() instead of isnull()? rule!APN_isBlank looks for both null values and empty strings.
