Is there a way to select a date range within one date picker similar to what we see in airline booking systems? So, within the date picker component, the user would click on a start date and select another date as end date within the same calendar view?

In short, no. If needed, it would likely be possible to cobble this together manually, either with side-by-side date fields for example, or if tighter control of the user's inputs is desired, you could even potentially use groups of dropdown fields (i.e. one for year, one for month, and one for day).
