Has anyone encountered a problem with formatting dates on forms?

I'm displaying a date as text on a form via a simple expression which works just fine (ie it displays the default date format).

However when running the same date through datetext(pv!myDate, "MMM dd, yyyy") the expression errors out and doesn't put anything in the log.
Note that this only happens when I try and display the date on a form - doing the same thing via the expression editor works exactly as expected....

Jin, datetext() reurns a value of type Text. Ensure you are using a Text Field in the form to evaluate the expression.

I'm actually using a message element to display the output since the expression in question is part of a larger set of read only data.

When I mentioned the default date format I meant the default output when a Date object is displayed in a text element.
