Users of mobile app that we are developing on Appian, expects badge count to be shown tagged with the App.
This badge count represents count of actions within the App. And, this count is available in the form of DB records, but not as a typical Appian task.
I could not find any posts that are specific badge count. Any suggestions please?

In a situation where there are no real tasks, how should the app know about them. AFAIK this is not supported.
I think that you're going to have to implement this yourself. How I would do it is include a writeBadgeToUser process model as a subprocess on all appropriate PMs. Then I'd have something, probably tied to both user profile and landing page, that queried badges from loggedInUser to display the number of badges.
If I convert Tasks (DB records) into Appian tasks, can I show those as App Badge?
ex. I have 5 tasks assigned to me in DB table as created by Workflow. Would be able to show '5' as badge tagged with Appian app?
