For example if we have two field : first name and last name . Now i want to edit it with new name , so we will have one link to edit it. Once i will click on that link then also we will have same field to edit it with new value. We will enter new value and click on submit button. Is it possible to achieve this without CDT ?

Hi, Not exactly sure about your requirement but in order to fetch or update data from DB , you must create CDT. Why do you want to update data without using CDT and Whats the goal? Temporarily you can store values in your local variables of the interface.
AS i am new to appian ,I am making POC for learning . can u explain how we can do with local variable ?
Hi, you can go through https://docs.appian.com/suite/help/21.4/Local_Variables.html to learn more about local variables
Hi,
Yes. You can use an inline editable grid to add, update, remove data.
you can use local!variables instead of rule inputs. You can use expression rules to query data inside the editable grid.
please define your local!variables with the expression rules that fetch the data.
Example:
local!data:{ a!queryEntity( entity: cons!entityname, query: a!query( pagingInfo: a!pagingInfo( startIndex: 1, batchSize: 50 ) ), fetchTotalCount: false ).data } ,
For the data to change when you edit the data from the grid, in your submit button use
a!buttonWidget( label: "Submit", saveInto: { a!writeToDataStoreEntity(datastorentityconstant , local!data) }, submit: true
),
You will find a better answer on the documentation.
