Hi everyone
Here's my scenario:
I need to use a Group Browser object for the user to be able to select a group from a list .
I can set the initial group as All Users, but that includes groups that may not be selected, such as Administrators.
It would seem my easiest method would be to create another group which lists only the desired groups, but I've been told that nesting groups within groups is bad practice.
Any thoughts?
Blessings
Stephen

I did not know that nesting groups is a bad practice ?!? I would have to refactor each and every app I ever built. Do you have a reason for this?
Depending on your use case, you could use the visibility feature of groups to make certain groups only visible to members.
Thanks Stefan, I appreciate your advice.
A senior colleague said that multi-level group nesting is not best practice...
Interesting. I recently blogged about using groups for a complex dynamic setup.

I am sure your colleague has his reasons, same as I do, when advising certain practices.
Is that list of groups static and not large? Why not just use a dropdown?
The group is small and static, yes.
By dropdown, are you referring to a picklist object?
I really want to be able to provide the user with a list from which he can simply select an option (or two)
I mean a simple a!dropdownField() or a!multipleDropdownField(). Store the list of groups in a constant to improve maintainability.
Cool, I'll try that approach.
Thanks Stefan, will feed back later
Thank you so much, Stefan, this suits the purpose admirably.
God bless you!
Your are welcome :-)
