Hi, I am in need of a format mask on a text field to allow only alpha

Hi,

I am in need of a format mask on a text field to allow only alphabets & digits, no other characters. I went with the masking character "a", as this allows alphabets & digits. I entered 50 of the masking characters in the text field masking to be able to allow up to 50 alphabets and/or digits.

Now when I enter some invalid characters in the form and press tab to navigate to next field, then the form is not responding for a very long time. If my masking is around 10 characters, I am getting quick response when I enter invalid characters

What kind of limitation we have with masking ?

Help on this is greatly appreciated
