The error shown in screenshot #1 is a default, built-in Appian error. That's fine. The question I have is with regards to its behavior.
When I upload an empty .txt file I get this error. However I feel like it should go away when I upload another file. In screenshot #2, I uploaded an incorrect file (per my use case, user can only upload .txt or .csv files). The top error in the second screenshot is the validation error I wrote. This is not desired behavior to have both those errors there. Even if I had uploaded a correct file, the default empty file error would still display until I click a button where submit = true.
And on another note, if a user tries to upload an empty .txt file again, the error message duplicates itself, as shown in screenshot #3, which I don't feel like is ever correct behavior.
I know this is a built-in validation error in Appian, and I don't think there is a way for me to change its behavior, but figured I would ask. Thanks!

This has been a known issue for a while now. If you search some around here you'll probably find 2 or 3 existing threads discussing the issue.
My apologies. I did search but perhaps not hard enough. Thanks for the udpate.
No worries - I personally consider this to be what I call a "broken item", and IMHO the folks at Appian need reminders popping up around here occasionally that it's been basically ignored on the product backlog, despite presumably being relatively fixable if they'd just... sit down and do it.
Good to know hahah. Hopefully it'll be addressed soon, but at least I know now it's a known issue and can tell the appropriate people on my team that it's out of my control
I suggest to open a support case, trying to push this fix a bit.
