I have a date field where I am updating the date value to db.

Say if I am updating the value as "12/21/2014". value get saved into the db as "12/21/2014". While reading the value from db it displays the value in the form as 12/20/2014

Kindly help resolve this issue...

Please check your time zone in Internationalization Settings under system tab, I think it is converting the given date in Primary Time Zone date.

Try wrapping the date in gmt() to ensure the correct timezone is used for display.
