How to design a intuitive way of navigating several aggregation/time categories in a report?

Hey folks!

I wanted to ask you for design concepts on how to navigate in a report.
Following situation: I want to create a report with different aggregation levels, namely daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly. Picking the aggregation level itself is no biggie, but it turns out creating a nice way of letting the user intuitively pick the time period he wants to view is a major pain. The most intuitive way for daily and weekly would be a dateField. But for monthly, quarterly and yearly, navigating a dateField can become quite tedious. So my choice for these categories would be a dropdownField.
While demanding the user to use different methods of input for basically the same thing is not ideal, I don't see much of a choice. Or is there?
