A few months ago I had a similar issue and the users wanted a $ symbol in the field too if possible. I was storing the value as a number(decimal) if I remember correctly. I had problems using the dollar() function because it didn't cleanly handle null values, so be sure to test for this (on Appian 6.6.0). Here are some notes I found:

I had to change the field type from a decimal to a text one to have the $ be visible, but outside of that, I have the default value being:
=dollar(if (isnull(pv!dec_dol_ArgCollateral.purchaseAmount_Dec)<>true,pv!dec_dol_ArgCollateral.purchaseAmount_Dec, 0), 2)

Are you able to show the currency value with commas correctly on the Tempo form immediately after user entry? (assuming tempo can't handle javascript)

hi dennis, we didnt try yet, we are still on 661 and not using Tempo to a great extent yet.

Has there been any new functions to handle this yet? Where the user is able to enter an integer and the field will display it as currency without having to convert it to text?
