User Interface
Form Reload on navigating between fields on

When we have multiple fields in a form and user navigates from one field to another field, i see that complete form reloads/refreshes, resulting in a slow response. Is this default Appian behaviour? I also checked there is no load or with in the form. Any suggestions? Or something for Appian Product team to see if something can be done on this.

Hi Ambrishs, as per documentation - a form will reload when a local variable or a rule input parameter is updated with a value (meaning that saving the user entered field value or a manipulated value into a local/rule input parameter that is defined inside the with() function).

Hello Ambrish, there are two possibilities: A. The entire SAIL interface reloads B. Only a part of the SAIL form reloads. The Appian server decides whether to reload the whole form or not. To get a complete idea how it is decided by Appian, check this link:
forum.appian.com/.../SAIL_Performance.html
If you read about all the phases of SAIL execution(the 8 phases..), you will get the idea about SAIL form execution.

On that page, the description in phase 3(transmit interface to client) is interesting. There are multiple factors, I think one can do some optimization if one knows what factors decide whether the complete SAIL interface loads or not

@chetany very useful link. @ambrishs695 Adding to above explanation, also if you have validations configured for form level as well as field level, this will also cause you form or the field to reload but the data will remain as it is. In order to understand whether the form really gets reload or not, try capturing your Appian URL of form in Jmeter, you can find by the time of submission of form, there will be list of urls for the same interface which indicates that the form was reloaded/refreshed/re-evaluated for several time
