KB-1738 How to check whether an application import was successful

Purpose

This article describes how to check whether an application import or patch import was successful. This can be useful for determining whether an import was successful when the web server times out.

  1. Verify the Import Complete Dialog Message Appears
  2. Check for a News Post in Tempo
  3. Check the Import History in the Administration Console

Verify the "Import Complete" Dialog Message Appears

After importing an application or patch in Appian Designer, an "Import Complete" dialog message will appear. If the "Import Complete" dialog message does not appear, check for the successful import using the following steps: Check for a News Post in Tempo and Check the Import History in the Administration Console.

The following is an example of the "Import Complete" dialog message:

Check for a News Post in Tempo

After importing an application or patch in Appian Designer, an event is created in the News Feed. Navigate to the News tab in Tempo to check whether the import completed.

The following is an example of an Import Completed event in the News Feed:

Check the Import History in the Administration Console

After importing an application or patch in Appian Designer, an import item is created on the Import History page in the Administration Console. Navigate to the Import History page in the Administration Console to check whether the import completed. More information regarding the Import History page can be found in the Administration Console documentation.

The following is an example of an import item on the Import History page in the Administration Console:

Note: If all three above methods do not conclude that the import successfully completed, reach out to Appian Technical Support via a support case to further investigate.
