KB-1867 "Start process link not displayed because the system is in a degraded (stateless) status." error when starting processes in the Appian for Mobile Devices app

Symptoms

When attempting to launch processes using a!startProcessLink, users of the Appian for Mobile Devices application encounter the following error screen:

An Error has occurred
This link is currently not available due to a system issue. Please contact your system administrator with the following error message if the issue persists:
Start process link not displayed because the system is in a degraded (stateless) status.

The issue is known to occur in the following cases:

  1. Launching processes from offline-enabled interfaces (both iOS and Android)
  2. Launching processes from Record dashboards (iOS only)

Cause

  1. The a!startProcessLink function is not compatible with offline-enabled interfaces. More details about offline use of links in interfaces can be found in the Designing for Offline Mobile documentation.
  2. The issue regarding Record dashboards using iOS has been addressed in version 19.2 of the Appian for Mobile Devices application.

Action

  1. If the issue is occurring on an offline-enabled form that does not require offline capability, disable offline mode by opening the Interface Properties dialog in the interface object, unticking the "Make Available Offline" checkbox, and saving the interface.
  2. If the issue is occurring in Record Views, update your Appian for Mobile Devices application to the latest version from the App Store. If you are using a branded build, request an updated custom build using the Mobile Branding application.
