KB-2180 "403 Access Denied" when accessing a task from an email link

Symptoms

When User Start Pages are configured, some users see a "403 Access Denied" error after attempting to access a task from a system-generated email link:

However, they are able to access the task directly within Appian by navigating to /suite/tempo/tasks.

Cause

The Default Start Page URL configured in the Admin Console > User Start Pages contains a trailing forward slash. This causes an extra forward slash to be added to the task link in the email, resulting in an invalid URL (outlined in red in the above screenshot).

This issue has been reported to the Appian Product Team. The reference number for this issue is AN-169824.

Action

Remove the trailing forward slash after the User Start Page URL. For example:

  • https://example.appiancloud.com/suite/tempo/

Should be updated to:

  • https://example.appiancloud.com/suite/tempo
