KB-1062 503 error returned during application import


While inspecting or importing an application, Appian works for some time. After a few minutes, the following error message is shown:

An internal error has occurred.
The page could not be loaded. [HTTP Code = 503] [APNX-1-4279-001]


The following are possible causes for this error:

  • The Search Server is offline.
  • The import is taking longer than expected and has timed out. The web server closes the connection which cause the web browser to respond with, server is unavailable.


  1. Refer to article KB-1032 to resolve issues relating to the search server.
  2. If Action 1 does not speed up the import, then increase the keep alive in the web server. For more information on increasing this setting, refer to the following documentation:
