While using Appian with Internet Explorer 11, users may encounter a pop-up with the following message:

An error was encountered while processing your request. Please try again.
The browser page has been configured to run in Internet Explorer 11's Enterprise Mode which sets the session to run like Internet Explorer 7 or 8 to allow for compatibility with older websites and applications. This results in complications with Tempo.

The solution involves engaging individuals in your organization who have access to change company-wide Internet Explorer settings, most likely IT. They will have access to the Group Policy editor or a registry editor and configure the browser to disable Enterprise Mode over the network.
This article applies to all versions of Appian using Internet Explorer 11 as a web browser.
