KB-2235 Folder is smaller in target environment than in source environment

Symptoms

After deploying a document folder or knowledge center object to a target environment, the Properties Contents section of the folder shows that the target environment's contents occupies less disk space than the source environment's, even though they contain the same documents.

Cause

When document folder or knowledge center objects are deployed, past versions from the source environment are not deployed to the target environment. However, the size metric in the Properties Contents section of the folder does take object versions into account. Therefore, if the source environment contains more versions, the folder will occupy more disk space.

Action

This is expected behavior, as only the latest version of the object is deployed. To manage the disk space used by objects' previous versions, please refer to Appian's Managing Object Versions documentation.

Affected Versions

This article applies to all versions of Appian.
