KB-1109 Users are unable to export interfaces/expression rules with inputs of type Record Type

This issue has been resolved in an Appian hotfix/new Appian version. Please apply the latest hotfix to your Appian installation or upgrade to the latest version of Appian.

Symptoms

Users are unable to export an interface or an expression rule containing a rule input of type RecordType. An error similar to the following is printed in the export log:

content 16777 _a-0000dc9d-685f-8000-9ba2-011c48011c48_17239 "objectName": The content [id=16777 uuid=_a-0000dc9d-685f-8000-9ba2-011c48011c48_17239] was not exported because it contains an invalid precedent: recordType [] (Test Case > "" > Input > "recordType") cannot be found. Cause

This issue has been addressed via AN-67645 in the following hotfixes:

  • Appian 7.11 Hotfix Package E
  • Appian 16.1 Hotfix Package B

Action

Apply the latest hotfix to your Appian installation or upgrade to the latest version of Appian.

Workaround

  1. In the interface/expression rule designer, hit the Test button.
  2. For each rule input that is of type RecordType with no expression, type null() in the expression box.
  3. Hit OK, and save the interface/expression rule.

This article applies to Appian 7.11 and 16.1.
