KB-1183 Users unable to access Quick Apps Designer in IE; /#!/ appended to the end of the URL

This issue has been resolved in an Appian hotfix/new Appian version. Please apply the latest hotfix to your Appian installation or upgrade to the latest version of Appian.

Symptoms

After opening the Quick Apps page in Internet Explorer (<APPIAN_URL>/suite/quickapps), the page loads for a long time, before the following error is displayed by Internet Explorer:

This page can’t be displayed.

Simultaneously, #! is appended to the URL, e.g. from:

https://yoursite.appiancloud.com/suite/quickapps/

to:

https://yoursite.appiancloud.com/suite/quickapps/#!//

Cause

This issue is caused by either using an old version of Internet Explorer or trying to use the site in Compatibility View.

This issue has been addressed via AN-70543 in the following hotfixes/versions:

  • Appian 16.2 Hotfix Package B
  • Appian 16.3

Action

Apply the latest hotfix to your Appian installation or upgrade to the latest version of Appian.

Workaround

If you are not using one of the supported versions of Internet Explorer, consider upgrading. The supported versions of Internet Explorer are listed on the System Requirements page.

If you are already using a supported version of Internet Explorer, you will need to disable Compatibility View for this site:

  1. In Internet Explorer, navigate to Tools > Compatibility View settings.
  2. Select the Appian site and click Remove to disable Compatibility View for this site.
