KB-1354 IdP-initiated SAML login redirects to SAML test result page

Symptoms
When opening a new tab after logging into Appian as a SAML-enabled user, the following message appears:
Authentication was unsuccessful. Reason: Unexpected error occurred during SAML authentication test.
Close this window and return to Appian Administration Console.
Additionally, the URL will read <APPIAN_HOME>/suite/saml/AssertionConsumer
Cause
This issue has been resolved via AN-85424 in Appian 17.1 Hotfix Package E and Appian 17.2.
Action
Apply the latest hotfix to your Appian installation or upgrade to the latest version of Appian.
As a workaround, change the URL to the preferred destination after the error page has rendered, such as <APPIAN_URL>/suite/tempo.
