Hello,

We have a case in which two users were created with the usernames "p687" and "P687".
I see 2 user profiles within Appian, but how does Appian handle these user profiles? Are they separate entities?
Should i be able to login with both?

If i search for a user's profile using Appian's JAVA API, is the username case sensitive?

  • @thanosm Out of interest, may I know on which version you are and are you able to create or see two users with "p687" and "P687" (I am bit surprised if Appian alowed the creation and not aware of the scenarios that allows the creation) ?

If you would like to proceed with deactivating a user, please take care of the following scenarios(There could be some more, but these will be the major areas affected as per my experience):

    >> When a user is deactivated, any running processes that were started by that user will pause by exception. This will not happen immediately, but is guaranteed to happen no later than the next time the application server is restarted. Additionally, process models that are configured to run as their designer will fail to run if the designer user becomes deactivated. (Reference: https://forum.appian.com/suite/help/7.9/User_Management.html#Deactivating_Users, https://forum.appian.com/suite/help/7.9/Appian_Object_Concepts.html)

    >> Tasks assigned to a user remain assigned to that user even after the user is deactivated. If the user is reactivated, the user will continue to see the task. (Reference: 'Best Practice' at https://forum.appian.com/suite/help/7.9/Assignment_Tab.html')
