I'm getting login issues on a fresh 7.11 install. After the initial login with the default Admin credentials, a password reset is expected. After the initial "Sign In" click, the URL refreshes to http://<fqdn>:8080/suite/personalization/setpassword.none, however, the fields stay the same (username, password) rather than allowing me to enter a new password. This happens each time I try to sign in (i.e. firefox, ie). Log attached. Help would be appreciated.

You need to modify your web.xml file, as specified in the post-install configurations section of the upgrade guide:

I guess that link should be this upgrade guide?

Having looked at the documentation again, it seems strange that the https configuration step is mentioned explicitly in the quick-start guide but not in the enterprise installation guide - is there a reason for that?

The Quick Start guide is, as the name suggests, a guide for getting a simple instance of Appian up and running on a local machine, for non-enterprise use. The environment that you set up using the Quick Start guide will necessarily use http, so the step of modifying the web.xml is specifically needed to get your Quick Start environment working.
You will find the same information by following the Enterprise Guide (when you get to the Required Post-Install Configurations section), but the Enterprise guide is more detailed, so the instructions aren't listed on a single page.
Does that help?

That does seem to make sense. I recently followed both the install and upgrade guides for an installation of 7.11 and found them somewhat disjointed; the quick start guide was rather more contiguous, so I ended up following that but used parts of all three throughout.
I suppose there's quite a number of possible install configurations and so there's not necessarily an easily defined order for the install tasks - hence them being split into various documents such as the post-install configuration.
