Just successfully deployed Appian for the first time. I logged in using Administrator/admin and trying to access the Administration Console. The option to do so doesn't appear under the upper right menu. When I go to localhost:8080/suite/admin, it returns with a 403 Forbidden error. I'm guessing the Administrator account doesn't have access to it?

The built in admin account does not have access to /admin. You will need to create a new system admin account and access /admin that way.

You wouldn't happen to know how I can do that without a real Admin account would you? Sorry for all the questions, I'm pretty new at this.

Make sure to configure the "conf.suite.SERVER_AND_PORT" param as localhost:8080 in custom.properties

@joshl: This is a fresh new install, so I'm assuming the only account that's created for this instance is the Administrator/admin account, unless there's another account I'm not aware of that has system admin privileges.
@rashmis960: I configured it as nero.mycomputername.com:8080 which corresponds to my computer's name, as per the documentation. That should be sufficient if I'm correct.

Yes, you would login with the default admin account, and create a new user of type System Administrator. You can use this new System Admin account to access the /admin page. To create a new user you can follow the steps outlined at

When I log into Designer, I don't see a People tab.

It looks like you are logged into the /design view. Try the /designer view.
