Scaling Appian

Hi All,
We are using 4 Cores/ Processors on Server. Can we increase number of execution/ analytics engines to 6 from existing 3 without increasing cores/processors or we should scale up processors as well?
Thanks

This is directly dependent on much CPU is currently used. Do you find your CPU usage at 90% or 30% on average?

Hey Paul, mostly CPU Usage remains 30-40% but sometimes it goes upto 95% (very few times though) but our physical memory remains around 90%.

Have you ran sizing or the Appian Health Check on your Environment to determine if the allocated resources are sufficient/determined the resources needed for expected growth? I strongly advice against adding Analytics engines unless you have determined the cause of the issue and that it is required.

If there is an underlying issue with Application design or a Report using all the available resources, adding additional hardware will only mask the problem and allow the issue to grow... soon consuming all the new resources.
Running the Appian Health Check can help you identify areas of concern:

Hope this helps?

Thanks Sally for update. We are on 7.5 currently, for which health check is not available now. We are planning to upgrade it to latest version & then we will run health check & will go for adding engines if needed.
