How to sort data in a grid within a process backed record

With just the screenshot making suggestions is a bit tough. Please provide more information. Maybe some SAIL code. What did you already try to solve the problem? Did you define a pagingInfo in a load()? Do you use it in the query? Did you assign it in the saveInto and value of the grid? Did you set the field property of the columns?

As per my knowledge it will not work with the code which you written. Because you need datasubset to sort data in grid. But you are calling rules in each column data.
If you want sorting to work, then create a datasubset which will contain all the data which you want to display in grid and use that datasubset.
For example:
You are displaying document related data like name, last modified by and modified date. So what you have to do is, create a datasubset which will contain all the value in data in json format and then use that datasubset for displaying in grid.
You can create rules to create json structured data like
{
          Name: file name,
          LastModifiedBy : modified user name,
          modifiedDate: last modified data
}
And then user todatasubset() to convert that dynamic json structure to datasubset.

@praveenkumark, you can give the field as whatever the fields/properties available in local!docs
assuming that local!docs having properites like {name:"test",lastmodifiedBy: "user1",modified date: 26/07/2016}

I agree to the other practitioners. You have to create a datasubset which contains the data to be shown in the grid. But this has nothing to do with JSON. The notation is used in Appian to create an ad-hoc data dictionary.

This datasubset can then be used for sorting and paging.
