how to check the size of an array local variable?

I am trying to find the size of an array variable for a suggest picker. 
 in java it will be something like array.length

The best way to check this is: 
 
if(a!isNullOrEmpty(local!array), 
count(local!array), 
length(local!array) 
) 
 
With this expression you can control all the cases.

generally you might use length( local!array ) depending on what exactly you need. if there's any chance your array might be "null" (instead of merely empty) you might want to either nullcheck or use a helper rule to simplify this process.
