KB-2133 Health Check service account credentials fail to validate in the Admin Console

Symptoms

Validating the Health Check service account credentials in the Health Check settings of the Admin Console fails with the following error:

A similar error message also appears in the application server log:

ERROR com.appiancorp.rest.shared.AppianExceptionMapper - Internal Server Error on REST API invocation. com.appiancorp.exceptions.LocalizedAppianRuntimeException$LocalizedAppianException: Expression evaluation error [evaluation ID = <ID>] : An error occurred while executing a save: java.lang.NullPointerException (APNX-1-4198-019)

Cause

The environment is unable to connect to forum.appian.com, which is needed to validate the Health Check credentials and submit Health Checks for analysis.

Action

Engage your server or network administrator to ensure there is network connectivity from the Appian environment to forum.appian.com.

This article applies to Appian self-managed installations versions 19.4 and later.
