I am trying to setup a receive message action in a process model, but while trying to select the process model by clicking on "Import Custom Properties" I dont see the main process model which triggers the "Send Message" event from an escalation. It shows "The process model does not contain any events". Any reason as to why this could happen. Both the process models have bene saved and published....

UPDATE - The event in the parent process is showing up if I add the send message in an "END" node. However the send message event that I have configured as part of an escalation in the same process does not show up. The escalation that sends the Send Message event is at Level 3, could the ordering be an issue there?

Have you configured the start node to have a receive message as a trigger? Did you save and publish the process model that is does the send message?

You can send messages from an end event:

It looks like to send a message as an escalation, you'll be escalating a task:

@patty, Yes, I need to escalate a task and when the escalation condition is met send a message to another process. But when I configure this send event, it is not visible when i try to import custom properties in the receive message event in the other process.

Please confirm these are the steps taken: User Input Task > Escalations tab > Send Message Event > Message Destination defined as your receive process model.
