Is there anyway I can tell if a specific user is currently logged into Appian? Any method considered. Thanks, James

With loogedInUser function you can get the current logged in user and verify the same user object with the one you will create. You should get the answer

/suite/admin has a Current User Activity dashboard which might get you what you're looking for.

I don't think that is correct sumeetk. That function is typically used for reports where a unique context is required for the current user. Such as comparing a stored user value to the current viewer of the report.
In this use case I wish to check if an alternate target user is currently logged in to Appian. For example, I wish to send the user a task but before it commits we check to see if the user account is currently logged on to Appian. If not return to the form and force an alternative selection.
I think something like this has been requested before but I couldn't find the post to check.

I cant seem to find that page jacobc, I am currently running 7.5 so perhaps that is only available in the newer version of Appian.

james in that case, there is a plugin which reads the logs files, you need to read either login-audit or login-audit-web-api file, this will give you a list and then you can verify that user.
URL for that plugin is

James, you're right, it was introduced in 7.6. Sorry about that.

No problem jacob, maybe it is a prelude to getting better access to user activity in the future. :)

Thanks for the suggestion sumeet, we are currently thinking of ways in which this could be implemented. Perhaps spring could be the answer in some way. I shall continue my investigation. Thanks again, James

What version of Appian are you using? In 7.6 they added an option in the suite/admin page that allows you to see current user activity and it shows you all the open sessions on the server. It wouldn't be something to report off of but you could check if a user is logged in and when their last action was with that session.
