Adding a new language to the appian evironment. In this, when i go thru the documentation at:
forum.appian.com/.../Adding_a_New_Language
It read,
"Once you have added your desired locales to the custom locale-config*.xml file, translate all text from Java, JSP, and XML files to the new languages that have been configured for the system."
Does this means we need to have our own translate texts for the entire appian instance??
Any recommendation in this is useful....

My recollection is as of some time back... but to the best of my knowledge, after adding the new language in the locale xml file, you should contact Appian support who will provide you with the list of texts (in English) that is used within the platform. You then will have to provide the translated text for each of these terms. Once done, you should receive the translated file to be deployed.
Remember, this wont translate the text you have in your Process forms.

Hi Brett, we are on the process of project devlpmnt estimations and the requirement said, the forms need to be available in 21 languages!!
I was goi thru the possibilities of adding a new laguage and hence was the query..
We will put this to the client team and wil decide.

Raghunadan, please bear in mind that enabling a new language will not automatically translate the end user's forms. It will only allow you to design different forms for different locale.
Are the developers going to use 21 languages as well? If its' only the runtime-form that are are interested to have these translations applied to, there are other means of achieving the same. The addition of new language applies to the Appian framework (such as the apps portal, designer)

Hi Sathya, the language of the forms displayed is decided on the default locale of the logged in user. Currently as Appian has few locales defined, I had created those many properties file to be used in the forms with traslate rule.
It is not necessary that the developers use those languages.
If, for run time display, we have any other solution to show the form in different language without adding a new language it is v helpful and may reduce most of the devlpmnt time we have estimated!.
Please let me know about this.

In more specified way, if the user logs in from China to the portal, the client needs al the forms, tabs, links etc to be displayed in chinese language.
Guess we need to add languages in this case since it deals with portals also.
