@shanmugapriyab The only solution is to deactivate the user in your case as per my knowledge. And prior to deactivating the user, you need to take care of the tasks or processes (that were run under the context of user) associated with the corresponding user object.

Please do not alter the Appian database / Primary database. Deleting the usr from the table will not remove them from the system entirely, but it may cause instability and unexpected behavior with your environment. As others have said, users may not be deleted. If a user account is no longer needed or permitted, please deactivate that user.

@shanmugapriyab To the best of my knowledge, I don't think a user can be deleted after the creation. The only way is to deactivate the user account.

To reiterate what I said above, I strongly advise against directly altering the primary database unless explicitly instructed to do so by Appian Support. Please do not make changes to the "usr" table.

Hi , what are the things to be looked into before deactivating a user .. how will that after the process model under the context of that user . How this can be avoided . We are facing this same issue . The user is deactivated but still process are running under their name . So there is some ambiguity happenings .

As per my understating in appian user can never be deleted . we can just deactivate or activate the user once it is being created in the system, but we can not delete it.

Hi vetrivelk,

you need to take care at the design of the process model.
Its good to follow the configuration "run as who ever designed this process model"instead of "Run as who ever started the process" in the Assignment tab of the node.

All the Tasks that are assigned to the user are no longer available when that user is deactivated
For this you need to design a process report and then display the tasks in a grid and allow an option to reassign that task to the Group or User.

Before deactivating a user - look at the objects where user is still an administrator, remove and add a user/group for it .

how will that after the process model under the context of that user. - any active process has to be reassigned to new user for change of task owner. Also all processes have to be exported and imported again to publish under the new user's name.

it is best to publish it as single - systemadmin user in uat/prod area so that issues with deactivate users will be avoided and many users do not have access.

As mentioned before, we are not able to delete users in Appian, only activate or deactivating them. I have not been able to delete any users. I have spend some time looking into this. I haven't found anything in regards to delete a user.

Hi Eliot I have a doubt, upon the comment that you made, if the users were created directly in the usr table, how can I manage to create the same users from the Admin Console.

I've think that I can update the users name and deactivate them, and then create the users again from the Adimin Console, can you tell me if my think is right?
