Process Instance ID

Hi All,
I would like to know whether the process Instance Ids are always unique. The reason is, For unarchiving a Process instance i am planning to store the necessary details in DB. One doubt was whether the process instance IDs will remain unique across the execution engines?? Is there a possibility where process instance ID would repeat.
Thanks,
Thoufiq.

This thread may provide some insight:

It seems like process IDs are not reused.

Thoufiq, as far as I know, the process instance id will always be unique. Check out this thread as well for more information:

@mohamedt Process ids will be never reused. In fact, we have come across this question in one of the projects I have worked for while building the Archival/Unarchival related stuff. We know that they won't be reused but to strengthen this thought, we approached Appian as well and the answer is No and they will be never reused, unlike Task ids.

I have a question related to this - can process model ID be ever re-used. Let's say I have process model created with pmID - 123. I delete it, and create another one. Is there any chance that the new process model also has the pmID- 123? I think that this should not be the case - but I am not sure.

@chetany Even am not sure as I haven't come across the situation to know about it. I opine similar to you - it might not be the case.

@chetan, pmID is always unique. Even if you delete the process model and recreate it, it would have a different pmID.
Save as also will have a different pmID.
