Receiving emails in the wrong format

We are facing an issue where sometimes the user receives the email in HTML format and at times receives the mail in the proper format. Has any one faced this issue? Please advice. Thanks in advance

More info is needed - in general HTML is the format e-mails are sent in, though when rendered properly the user should not see the HTML formatting. Is your issue that users are seeing HTML formatting or is it something else?
