Are there any recommendations, tips, literature available for Sizing the requirements for Appian development ?
For other BPM platforms there are sizing sheets (Tool) available .

Can you talk more about what you mean by "Sizing"? Is your goal to identify disk / memory for your environment based on your expected usage? If so, there is a sizing script that can be run for self-managed installations.
If you're talking about something else, can you give more context on what you're looking for?

For estimating the Development effort for a given set of requirements do we have Estimation tool available for Appian ?
I don't know of any tools that do this - typically this kind of activity would be done through enagement with Appian Customer Success or a Partner organization.

As per my own experience, we estimate based on the assignees level of expertise and comfort on the changes required in a user story.
Other than that, if the changes are very simple and would not require extensive testing, then we provide estimation of 1-3 days. If the changes are of medium complexity and would need to be tested thoroughly, we generally provide estimate of 1-2 weeks. If the changes are complex, would require extensive analysis on backward compatibility and rigorous testing the estimation would be for 3-4 weeks.
